The Mountain Ash loves Edmonton weather and grows slowly but easily here.
Depending on the species, Mountain Ash are long time locals or imports from Eurasia.
You'll know the hardy tree because of its bright clusters of red-orange berries.
These berries attract not only your eyes but birds too. Our feathered friends enjoy the berries throughout the winter months.
In the spring, migrating Bohemian Waxwings stop in Edmonton to chowdown on the berries (and get slightly tipsy from the fermented eats).
Then the Mountain Ash produces showy white flowers in the late spring, early summer.
The tree tops out at 25 feet tall high featuring a low canopy creating a great shady spot.
